CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Earlier today the field was set for Sunday’s elimination rounds of the  3rd Annual Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte.

Under a beautiful Carolina blue sky the fast times which this track has become accustomed to allowing were again being posted in all three NHRA Full-Throttle Series classes.

The biggest field, home to the most drivers fighting for the right to advance to Sunday’s eliminations, was the Pro Stock class.

22 drivers would attempt to position themselves inside the Top 16 in order to earn  the right to spend another night in the Queen City. Drag racers hate short weekends.

After all was said and done in Pro Stock and the day’s two qualifying sessions complete a couple of upsets were to be found.  Neither Larry Morgan nor Warren Johnson, both veterans with big followings, would make the cut.
